About Me and “My Dream”

My name is Kona Dave and this blog is dedicated to documenting my dream of moving to the Big Island of Hawai’i. I currently live in Southern California and I work in the computer hardware industry. I love everything Hawai’i and I have spent numerous vacations on the various islands that make up the entire state. I cannot describe the way I feel when I am visiting any of the islands. When I am in Hawai’i my allergies clear up, my joints stop hurting and my attitude about life sort of changes. I understand why things move slowly in Hawai’i. I embrace the lifestyle. Coming back to the mainland is always a disappointment and let down.

I have always had the dream of being able to retire with sufficent funds and live somewhere exciting. I had plans of originally moving to Las Vegas where it used to be inexpensive to live and there are few places as exciting as Vegas. All things change and now I am planning what I call my semi-retirement. I am planning to move and live in Hawai’i and work until I reach my full retirement age.

I have designed and run a couple of forum websites. They are the Kona Forum http://www.KonaForum.com and the http://www.KauWeb.com Ka’u Web. Through these sites I have met a wonderful group of people from all over that share the same dream that I have. Along with this I have met many wonderful people who are currently living the dream and are living and thriving in paradise.

In this blog I will detail my thoughts as well as my trials and tribulations and the current status of my move.

I want to say a special thanks to my new friends who live on the Big Island of Hawaii, John, Tom and Scott. Without your friendship and advice this would be much harder than it already is. I would also like to say thanks to the many wonderful people that I have made friends with through the Kona Forum and Ka’u Web. Without your support of my forums I wouldn’t be able to share my dream.
